Govt announcement on NZ ETS auction settings

As required by the Climate Change Response Act, the Government has made decisions regarding unit limits and price control settings for the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (NZ ETS) auctions for 2024 - 2028.

Changes will also be made to December 2023 auction settings, following a reconsideration of decisions made in 2022 after settlement of a judicial review.

The 2023 and 2024 auction calendars will be updated to reflect these settings. More detail is available at the page linked below.

Changes to the unit supply and price settings will apply from the 6 December 2023 auction onwards.
